General News
With the recent snow event, East Rockhill Township would like to remind residents of the following items to ensure the safety and welfare to the traveling public during all snow events.
- Sports nets or trailers – While no basketball, soccer, hockey net structures or trailers shall be placed in the Township right-of-way or road, the Public Works Department requests that all nets and trailers located within the roadway or overhanging the curb line be relocated in order to facilitate winter maintenance operations during the winter season. The structures do not allow maintenance vehicles to maneuver close to the curb when located in the street or overhanging the roadway.
- Mailboxes – Check that your mailbox and post are in good repair and that they are behind the curb, and not leaning out over the street. Property owners are responsible for clearing snow to allow access to individual or community mailboxes.
- Overhanging vegetation – Check your property to ensure that any overhanging items that may cause danger to traffic on a street by obscuring the view are removed.
- Sidewalks – Ensure that your sidewalk is cleared of all snow and ice. Township Code of Ordinance §21-202 states every person in charge or control of any land fronting or abutting a paved sidewalk shall remove and clear away snow and/or ice of at least 30 inches in width within 12 hours after the cessation of any fall of snow, sleet or freezing rain. Penalties for violating this provision result in a fine of not more than $1,000 plus costs, each day that a violation continues shall be considered a separate offense.
To allow for efficient snow removal, vehicles are not permitted to be parked on the following Snow Emergency Route as posted:
- Bryant Drive
- Buck Drive
- Campus Drive
- Deer Run Road
- Fifth Street from Perkasie Borough Line to Schwenkmill Road
- Greenleaf Circle
- Pine Court
- Sunnyside Lane
