DEP Monitoring Wells

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has provided an update regarding the Ridge Run PFAS HSCA Site.

DEP is planning to install several new monitoring wells to better understand the distribution and movement of the PFAS contamination in the groundwater beneath the Site.

  • Drilling is expected to begin on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, and work will continue for several weeks.
  • A map depicting the planned locations is below and will be uploaded onto DEP website at:  Ridge Run PFAS Site

What can I expect to see during drilling activities?

  • The work will take place on weekdays during business hours.
  • A drill rig, similar to the one pictured with the news posting, will be located at each well location for 2-3 days.
  • After the well drilling is complete, DEP and its contractors will perform tests to learn more about the nature of the subsurface and water quality at various depths.
  • The finished wells will be level with the ground surface.
  • In early winter, DEP will sample all monitoring wells on Site.  The results from the new wells will be posted on DEP’s website.

DEP will continue to send “Community Updates” via email when new information on the Site becomes available.

  • If you would like to be added to the email distribution list, please contact RA-EPSEROECB@pa.gov .  Please include “Ridge Run Updates” as the subject of your email.
