Board enters into agreement for year 2000 land purchase
In June, the Board of Supervisors entered into an agreement to acquired 50+ acres along Three Mile Run Road. The tract of land is currently held in trust which is bound until April 2000. In 1998 the township approved an open space recreational plan which established a formal strategy protecting and preserving areas of the township that are environmentally valuable portions of the township.
As Supervisor Gary W. Volovnik stated when requesting the ballot referendum question, "Once the open land is gone, it's gone forever. They aren't making any more.
The property adjoins the Willard H. Markey Centennial Park and provides a connection between the park and township owned 37 aces on Three Mile Run Road. |
