1998 Playground Project and Walking Path extension completed
Through the joint efforts of business, individuals, the Park & Recreation Board, Township Supervisors and the community, the 1998 Playground Project has been successfully completed. The project officially kicked off last June with a formidable goal of $18,000.00. Through many charitable financial contributions as well as donations of time and materials the playground became a reality.
The playground located at the Willard H. Markey Centennial Park now provides a climbing and sliding play set, tire swing, bounce rides, multiple swing sets, two sand diggers and four concrete park benches.
This fall the Park and Recreation Board will hold a dedication service to recognize the efforts of all involved. A permanent bronze plaque will be mounted at the site to recognize and commemorate the effort.
Most recently, the township road department extended the walking path to further enhance use of the park. The walking/bike path is now 1 3/10th miles in length. |
