Township Begins Emphasis On Economic Development Through Business Expansion And Retention Efforts

Beginning in January of this year the Township initiated an emphasis on identifying the  businesses located in the township.  The township intends to meet with all companies large and small as part of a Business Expansion And Retention (B.E.A.R). program. The program will attempt to identify their status and needs. It is hoped this program will aid in the retention and growing of the local businesses. In turn, providing local employment, and building a healthy local economy.

Recognizing the need to provide a balanced community through building a viable business climate while protecting the residential integrity of the community, the Board of Supervisors are promoting economic development within the township and Pennridge area. This effort commenced in 1998 when Township Manager, John V. Cornell, began professional training at the Penn State Economic Development Course and continued with the National Economic Development Institute through the University of Oklahoma.  In April of this year, Mr. Cornell will complete the third and final level of training and graduate from the Institute. A requirement for graduation is a thesis or project. With the timely opening of the new Bucks County Community College Upper County Campus,  the economic impact on the local college  was chosen.

All residents are encouraged to patronize the local businesses. Beginning in April of this year a new updated community map will be mailed to each household.  Be sure to thank the local sponsors and support their business.
