Township Commits $15,000 for Pennridge Area Coordinating Committee Regional Ground Water Study
The Pennridge Area Coordinating Committee (PACC) has embarked on a comprehensive, area wide, ground water study. The purpose of the study is to identify and quantify the underground water resources located within the Pennridge area. Once gathered, the information will be used by all the municipalities located in the Pennridge School District for developing a long-range plan for environmentally sound use of water resources.
With the assistance of the Bucks County Planning Commission and an engineering/hydrogeologic consulting firm, the PACC has pursued matching grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development through the Land Use Planning and Technical Assistance Program.
Hilltown Township has agreed to be the lead agency in applying for the grant. The Townships of Hilltown, Bedminster, West Rockhill and East Rockhill have pledged $15,000.00 each toward the cooperative project. The Borough members of the PACC have pledged the assistance of their respective water companies and authorities.
The recognized need for the study has been a growing concern of future water resources with the increased proposed housing developments within the Pennridge area. |
