Banking: Ten Tips to Prevent Identity Theft
1. Don’t give out financial information such as checking, credit card numbers and social security numbers over the phone. 2. Report lost or stolen checks immediately. 3. Store cancelled checks and new checks in a safe place. 4. Notify the bank of suspicious phone inquires. 5. Guard your ATM Number. 6. Tear up or shred unneeded financial papers. 7. Don’t put out-going mail in or on your mail box, drop out-going mail at the post office. 8. If regular bills fail to reach you, call the company to find out why. 9. If your bills include suspicious items don’t ignore them. Investigate immediately to head off fraud. 10. Periodically contact the major credit reporting firms to review your file for correctness. |
