Building Safety Week Recognizes Importance of Safe Construction
April 6-12, 2003
Township Building Inspector Michael Gardner encourages everyone to celebrate Building Safety Week. The importance of building codes, code regulations and code enforcement is often overlooked until a catastrophic fire or other construction- related tragedy occurs. Events such as earthquakes, hurricanes, or September 11th raise the focus on construction and design.
Building Safety week is celebrated this year April 6-12, recognizing the importance of safe buildings and the professionals who make sure buildings are safe in your community. Building Safety Week began in 1980. It’s objectives are to promote the use, enforcement and understanding of building codes. It also recognizes professional code enforcement officials who regularly attend educational training seminars to make sure they are aware of the latest code changes and technological advances in construction.
Mike recommends everyone remember to check with the township office before beginning to plan that next construction project to determine if permits are required . Questions can be directed to the office or to the township web site. Township ordinances and application forms are also available for viewing and download off the web.
