2000 Census Results Mandate Curbside Recycling

With an official U.S Census population of 5,199 East Rockhill Township is now required to provide a curbside recycling program, by Act 101 the “Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act”.

Since adoption of Act 101 in 1988, East Rockhill Township has provided voluntary recycling. Residents have been encouraged to drop off glass, plastic and aluminum at the recycling center located behind the Township municipal building.

Under the mandated curbside recycling program all residential waste haulers will be required to also collect separated recyclables placed at curbside.

It is anticipated the complete change over to all curbside collection will be accomplished during the next number of months. During March the Township will adopt an amendment to the existing solid waste ordinance requiring curbside collection and notify the licensed haulers. The drop off center will remain open until the curbside program is fully implemented. Questions may be directed to the Township office, 215-257-9156.
