Golf Course Master Plan Design Moving Ahead

Design for a municipally owned 18 hole professional golf course is moving ahead. The approximately 140 acre site is being designed by Jim Blaukovitch Associates Golf Course and Irrigation Design from Quakertown. The firm has designed numerous courses most recently the new Bellavista Golf Course located in Montgomery County Pennsylvania.

Following the initial purchase of the 107 acre Hildebrandt Farm, the golf course evaluation process began in 1998 with the formulation of a volunteer golf feasibility committee. The committee recommended the Board of Supervisors perform formal marketing, groundwater evaluation and routing studies. The routing studies laid out potential course configurations to determine if and to what level a course might be possible.

A final routing study indicated the combined acreage suitable for a professional course. The next step in the design process is completion of a Master Plan which provides a detailed plan designing each hole and establishing distance, initial grades and elevations. At the same time a detailed groundwater evaluation is being performed including well pump tests.

The Master Plan proposes a practice driving range which may eventually replace the existing driving range located at the Willard H. Markey Centennial Park on Ridge Road. In addition, the Plan also provides for a club house facility along Ridge Road.

According to Jim Blaukovitch, the construction cost of the course is estimated to be between 4 and 5 million dollars. It is also anticipated the facility, will generate over $400,000.00 per year in net revenues.

Following construction, the course will require at least one growing season before opening. The current anticipated opening is slated for the year 2005.
