Quakertown-Stony Creek Rail Line Passenger Study

Traffic is this region’s number one concern, year after year. Railways offer a solution for both reducing commuter traffic, and taking trucks off the roads. The Quakertown-Stony Creek Rail Line has been preserved and parts of it are currently being used for freight transport. To upgrade the current tracks for increased freight use, repairs estimated at $10 million are required. Adding a rail shuttle between Quakertown and Lansdale for passengers could cost upwards of $95 million. Federal funding is available, but it requires a 50 percent local match.

Beginning this fall, a $300,000 study considering rail passenger restoration from Quakertown to Lansdale, and eventually to Norristown and Philadelphia or King of Prussia, gets underway and we need your help!

Would you use commuter rail if it were available? Please go online to www.QSCrail.org to complete a survey about rail transportation and to find more information about this project.
