The Board currently consists of seven voting members and one active non-voting member who serve as volunteers appointed by the Board of Supervisors.  The Board of Supervisors created the Park and Recreation Board in 1989 to undertake the task of planning and designing the effective use of approximately 500 acres of Township-owned open space as part of the Township's comprehensive Open Space Plan.  Open space has been acquired over the years from developers, other parties and through outright purchases by the Township to provide recreational areas throughout the Township.  In addition, the Board has been instrumental in planning and implementing fund-raisers for the park programs.
